A White Christmas

Christmas was a good time this year. Very low key, unlike the normal holiday time when you rush to about 80 different family gatherings. We kept it real with about 3 this year.

Opening gifts at the grandparent's.

Then up to Shaver Lake cabin for a white Christmas :)

Our makeshift Christmas tree!

Of course the presents couldn't fit under the "tree".

Walking around the cabin.

Tundra LOVES the snow!

There were icicles taller than me hanging from the roof!!!

I got Chris and acoustic :)

It snowed until the day after Christmas, then the ICKY sun had to come out (hehe Sarahhh). But it was obviously, so so beautiful! Hope you all had a wonderful holiday season :)

He Might Kill Me...

But I'll take the chance.

With some of my Christmas money, we purchased a scanner/printer/copier! I've never had a scanner and I was soooo excited that, RIGHT after we got it, I demanded that Chris hurry up and hook it up to my computer.

I then proceeded to scan all of his childhood (and beyond) pictures that his Mom gave me. He then asked, "why are you scanning so many? You better not post them on the internet..." "Oh, um...I just want to have them." Long pause, "but...PLEASE can I post the cutest ones???" To that he said, "why would people want to see those?" "Because they are so CUTE!" I don't think he said yes or no, so I will take that as a yes :)

Okay I'm going go to hide NOW!

PS, I'll post some old one of yours truly very soon.

A Litte Bit of Nothing

Most of the reason for this post is to...

1) Remind you to leave a comment on my 100th blog contest post!!!!!

2) Gives me something to do while the day is winding down...

3) Show you these few little things I bought as Christmas gifts that are absolutely fab:

I bought a handful of different prints from this shop for different people in my family (of course everyone has dogs!). Most of the ones I saw looked pretty much identical to said family member's pets. I got them in the mail yesterday and they are so much more amazing than I'd anticipated! The one above looks JUST like Tundra and how she lays!

I've purchased these bath fizzies for my Mom a few times and she absolutely loves them. If my bath tub was deeper, I'd buy some for myself as well. When I got my mail, the whole mail box smelled of yummy Christmas scents :)

I also ordered a couple of these checkbook covers on another etsy shop to give to whomever. When I got the package...I drooled over them so much that I kept one for myself :) Ooops!

I hope everyone has a wonderful holiday!!!!!

One Hundred

One. Hundredth. Post.

So, you know what that means? I'm going to be like lots of other people and give away some cute stuff :) But, I won't show you everything, because that would ruin the fun! Who doesn't love a surprise in the mail???

My theme for this giveaway is New Things for a New Year. Here's one thing to peak at.

To Enter: All you have to do is leave a comment, noting what your favorite color is.

Please comment by 7:00 pm PST on Sunday, December 28th. That way I can have a winner randomly chosen soon after, and mail a package out just in time for the new year :)
Don't worry, I'll probably remind you about 80 more times....

In the Spirit

I had done z-e-r-o Christmas anything before we went to Michigan. No decorations, no shopping. Nothing!!! Well, 2 days after we got back I was having a little mini Christmas/Steph birthday party at mi casa. Well, needless to say I got just a few things done in the nick of time...

Jimaie, Sarah, Talia, Susan, Caitlyn, Steph, and Myself.

Okay, I now feel in the spirit (Oops forgot to take a picture of my wreath...come on over, it's hanging on my door I swear!!!). Oh oh oh, and we lit our first fire this weekend. We have a REAL fireplace...wahooo!

P.S. I still have zero presents wrapped...le sigh.

Scarf Time!

I was so ecstatic for Sarah and Talia's scarf exchange! When the list of paired people was sent, I looked down that list and saw I was matched with Lorie! Now, I hadn't religiously followed Lorie's blog...yet...*now I do! I love her!*...but, I did know that she lived in the same town as me (I remembered her face for Colleen & Ashley's photo show). We e-mailed one another for our addresses to mail the scarfs, and found out that we lived HALF A MILE away from each other. How's that for a coincidence? Well, we decided that we would meet up and exchange our scarves, rather than mail them.

Last night, Lorie stopped by my house and we did our exchange!!!

Thank you Lorie the scarf is beautiful, and it was so nice to sit and chat for a few :) Lorie actually made the scarf she gave me...how awesome is that? I love purple, too :) Thank you again, you are sooo sweet!

The Weather Out There WAS Frightful

I've blabbered more than a few times about our trip to Michigan. Now it is the time to share all the details of our trip! We flew out of Bakersfield on Dec. 3rd, bright and early at 6:30 am. My parents/sister were watching our cats and our house for us, and Tundra was supposed to stay with them. A few things happened when we left, yadda yadda, and we decided that they could take her to the kennel (ummm...more like doggie paradise imo). The flight there was long, but it went well.

Chris' Dad, stepmother and stepbrother picked us up from Detroit and drove us back to their house near Flint, about an hour away. We stayed with his Dad the entire time, but spent plenty of time visiting other family members. The week went by REALLY fast...too fast! Everyone was super nice and said very nice things about me...which was a relief!!! It's a different lifestyle for SURE - ie., the weather, the fact that everyone smokes, his dad's fam is into hunting (all things I was fully aware of btw). But I felt so much relief after finally getting to meet Chris' family; after all we've been together over 2.5 years.

We spent a few days with his mom. You all know I love animals? She had something like 15+ cats!!! I spent my time petting the cats and going through tons of photo albums from every year Chris has been alive ;) His mom sent me home with all the doubles of his pictures, any pictures he wanted, and even his baby book!!! (I'll have to scan some of his baby pics sometime...omg CUTE!) His mom was so sweet, and so was his sister, she's about 15. We spent another day with his grandma on his mom's side - she had a GOOSE! While we were there his aunt and cousin stopped by as well. We also spent time with his other grandparent's (soooo nice!), I got to meet some of his other cousins and aunts and uncles as well.

Chris' sister, mom, him and me.

Chris' sister, him, his cousin and his cousin's daughter.

Grandma, Chris and me.

Hughey the goose :)

Other than spending time with family we really only did a few other things. We went to "the big mall" - which was actually very nice and I'm annoyed Bakersfield has sucky malls! We also spent an evening in Frankenmuth, MI. It's a little German town which was decked out for Christmas, and apparently has the biggest Christmas store in the world!
Mmmm...dinner.

Had weird things like this all over!

Us <3

Ahhh...lol!

He's so cute.

We also played lots of scrabble, scattegories, and sudoku. We did go on one little walk on the last day we were there...it was probably only like 25 degrees (HAH - only!).

Eeeep...cutie!

Ice skatin'!

Okay so the only bad thing about the entire trip was when our flight home was cancelled. Long story short. Drive there = 1 hour 15 mins. Wait to board plane for 45 mins. Board plane. Mechanical issue will be done in 30 mins. After 30 mins up, 50 more mins. "We won't need to cancel this flight." Waiting. Waiting. 2.5 hours later...flight cancelled. Re-book for the next day. Dad drives back over 1 hour to get us, we drive back. 11pm. Snow storm. Slow people. Ugh.

At least we made it home nice and safe.
