Happy Things

  • I have been slacking at weddings things, and thus, been sucking at posting on The Bridal Bloggette. But! Today I managed to post a wee little update there, so I hope you can head over there, read it and help me out a bit! Thanks!

  • I have really been trying to get my creative juices flowing again. Over the next few days I plan to be working on our save-the-dates - I found this really cute idea in a book I have, and have been dying to get it going for a while now! I also managed to add a couple new things to my Etsy shop today, and will hopefully add another few things in the next couple days :)
  • I am planning on doing a GIVEWAY(!) later this week, just for fun.

  • I have a whole chicken in the crockpot right now, along with some sliced lemons, garlic cloves, and rosemary. You should smell it. Better yet, you should definitely make it!

  • I had a super fun weekend that included good times with some of my most favorite people, and even met a new one! Check out our adventures over at Mrs. Priss' site.
  • Want to ask me something? I decided to start a Formspring. Ohhh goodie! :)

Sorry Veggie Friends...

I'm currently obsessed with stuffed animal head wall hangings...

This one cracks me up with the grandma-esque red glasses! Via themuststashstore.

And how sweet is this little heart nosed deer?! Via miniforest.

I think girlsavage's shop is the first place I ever saw these.

How can you resist this cute little Rhino!! Omygawsh!! Via PlanetFur.

Just kidding on this one. I mean it's cute and all, but, can you imagine a tiny deer head protruding from your chest? Via kitschygalore.

PS, the weird things I had to sift through to find some of these..yourewelcome.

Oh yeah, why hello there...!

WOW I totally have sucked at updating...it's been AN ENTIRE MONTH. I blame this 100% on the fact that my e-mail change totally effed up my ability to blog. Yeah, I'll blame that. Not myself, nope. Never!!!

Well my main reason to update is to tell you about a giveaway hosted by the lovely Talia. She is giving away a ton of super cute fall-inspired things - annddd, one of those include one of my leafy hair pins! YAY! Some of my favorite people are also giving away items from their Etsy shops. Totally love this group of ladies! So if you haven't been over to her blog, you better hurry up! Leave a comment on her giveaway post by October 8th!!!

Some other things..
*Just got back from a week in Michigan - probably a post full of pictures to come soon!
*We left a week ago and it was 100 degrees, and today it's 70!!! LOVE IT.
*Planning on adding some new things to my Etsy shop this week.
*Getting excited about decorating for Halloween/Fall. I think I'm going to do that this afternoon. My giant orange tub of decor is calling my name. Do you guys have anything decor-wise you've done for fall?

Just a little fall inspiration for ya. One picture from our trip :)

Currently Obsessed...

...stamps!!!

Omigosh. This is where the Internet is troublesome. I see one little cute thing I like and it turns into a search for cheaper, cuter things; and by the time I am done I've found 800 cute things that are on my want-list.

And then, THEN...I get to share it with you and then you find all these cute things to buy. A vicious circle, vicious I'm telling you!!!

Lists

I think I'm about the only person I've heard of who isn't a fan of lists.

Sure, I make lists. Handwritten lists. Grocery store lists, and at time "To Do" lists. I also almost always forget my lists at home, rendering them useless as I head to Fresh & Easy or Target. And those to-do lists, when I make them, it feels nice to make a list and check things off..that is, if you have time to check things off. So my lists seem more of like a never ending list of things that I will never get to.

Then there's my favorite thing, Wishpot: my website of lists! Imagine that! I know there's plenty of websites where you can compile lists of things you want, but it's sooooo much better! You can make your own categories of things (gifts, things you want, just cool things you find...etc, etc.). You can also add a button to your web browser, so that when you're surfing the web and see something that interested you, you just hit your Wishpot button and it'll add it to one of yours lists, you pick. Also, you can do all kinds of registries on Wishpot, awesome!

The two coolest things are: 1) you can add your friends to Wishpot, so when their birthdays are coming up it automatically sends you an email and you can check out what's on their wish list. If you buy something on their list you can "reserve it", and they won't know who got them something (it also provides you with their mailing address, if you are their "friend"), and my favorite, 2) It emails you when something on your lists has gone on sale!!! All that stuff you've added from Athropologie and Urban? Yeah, when that goes on sale you automatically know, pretty awesome!

Yeah so, I am a big fan. And you should be too. There's a lot more to it so you should check it out, and if you do go ahead and add me :)

And no, Wishpot isn't paying me to tell you this LOL (although, I wouldn't mind!).

Dry spell, much?

I just pinched myself to make sure I was alive. I have nothing really bloggable to write about but here are some things I am wishing/planning to blog about:

  1. My craft room project. The room that I painted probably 2 months ago, then let pile up with crap while I crafted on the kitchen table. Chris helped me start organizing it this past weekend and I discovered a few things. a) Is that much felt REALLY necessary?, b) As I discover mutiple unopened baggies of supplies that I've orderd online, oh yeah, I totally ordered that months ago..., c) Why do I have 20 different types of glue? And 10 rolls of tape??
  2. I wish I could blog for months about wedding planning, at least I'd have something of substance to talk about. I might just want to work on getting engaged first. [Chris, are you reading this?? :)]
  3. I could write about a fun weekend I had but Morgan and Jimaie already did :)
  4. Etsy-ing. By now, you should have probably already figured out that when it comes to my free time, I'd like to think I can make time to work on my crafts and make some money, but that takes us back to #1...
  5. TV Show Watching. Umm, I could blog about how I have been spending my free time the past month having nightly dates with our new favorite shows on DVD: Dexter, How I Met Your Mother, and now Heroes. But, if I were to do this then it would appear that I have no life, and we wouldn't want people to think that now would we? Ok, I have no life.
  6. I turned twenty-four last week. Nothing to write home about, is this what getting older is like? *Oh oh, I did get my own sewing machine...ah, and back to that #1 again...*
I so promise I will get to one of these things soon! Eeeee!

You make me want to punch you

I wish I owned this blog: Things I Want to Punch in the Face. Seriously, what's more fun that complaining about things that...make you want to punch it in the face!? Oh, is that what Twitter is for? Darn...

Things that are currently making me what to punch them in the face:

  • Our neighbors. (Last night was awoken too all hell breaking loose as we heard a fight breaking out at who-knows-what time...loud yelling...yadda yadda. It scared the pee out of me...WHAT IF THEY JUMP INTO MY BACKYARD AND KILL ME?!?!!?)
  • The fact that I wasn't one of the lucky people to go to Vegas. Whatever. I'll have to live with not being in the cool club.
  • Celebrities. Okay...I'm probably the only one that doesn't keep up on celebrity gossip. I. Don't. Care. Mostly because 99% of them are idiots. Last week we caught an episode of "I'm a Celebrity..." and I saw who Spencer was for the first time. REALLY, PEOPLE? It us us, who drool over their every moving moments, that make doucheness like this possible to survive. gag me.
  • Allergies. Why is it that every time I want to do something outside, I have to be afraid of DYING??? I seriously pulled weeds for like 10 minutes, all to suffer from DEATH all day long.
  • Un-ripe avocados. This really makes me cry. Why would I buy a bag of them, and want to wait 3+ days for them to be edible. WHY?!?!
Ok, I think I may have to stop myself...my list could go on forever. I'm a really happy person, I promise :)

What makes you want to punch it??

Cuteness in the Kitchen

I thought I would share some lovely kitchen things I have found on the Internetz lately (ie., I have nothing better to do). Hope you enjoy :)

Lovebird S&P shakers! SO CUTE! I am determined to have somebody buy me these (hint hint wink wink, anyone? Bueller?)

These awesome bird measuring spoons. Yeah they are uber expensive, at least in my book. Maybe something to stick on a wedding registry?

Graphic bowl/plates found at Urban. I saw these a few weeks ago, they are so adorable. If only mis-matched dishes were cool...

I still think my friend over at BeanPickleSprout has the cuuuuutest potholders/placemats/dish towels on the entire Internet!

I could list about 80 things from Anthropologie on this one, but this honey jar is calling my name at the moment. My other fav's are the grapefruit sugar bowl and goose measuring cups. Heart.

I purchased a few different kitchen prints not to long ago, but this one was also on my list of NEEDS. Who doesn't need a cupcake?

And how about something for the dogs and cats? These pet feeders are simple, yet awesome. And! You can get the painted any color, win-win.

And who could forget a cute apron? There are millions out there, MILLIONS I tell ya! I could waste hours finding the best of the best. But right now, this one does it for me.

Working for the Weekend

I am in a grumpalicious mood today....tired, allergy-ridden, and let's just say work was not so great today. Monday: I do not like you!

In order to make myself feel a little bit better (um, lets pretend I didn't eat a cupcake and ice cream bar already...), I am just going to tell you allllllllllllllllll about my weekend.

Friday night: hockey game. Condor's won 7-3. Score. I forgot how exciting hockey games are, especially when you get in free.

Saturday morning: Free McDonalds iced coffee (got coupons at the hockey game!), then to the dog park for some play time. Sadie's first time at the park!

After that I pulled some weeds, fun right? I KNOW! Saturday afternoon I finally made curtains out of some fabric I bought at Ikea, like....5 months ago...not even kidding. I'd take a picture but our room has crappy lighting at night, so I'll save that for later. Oh and I made some bandanas for Tundra and Sadie. Cutezor.

Saturday evening we went to ANOTHER hockey game :) We were in free again, but got to sit in season ticket holder's seats: front row glass, right behind the goal. Saweeeeet. Again, they won 7-4.

Sunday Chris said he wanted to fish. Which turned into me looking for fishing spots. Which turned into me finding there is a fish hatchery and museum an hour away up in the mountains. So, we took the beautiful hour drive and checked it out.

I hope you all had a fantastic weekend, and that your Monday was better than mine.

Amen.

Taxes Smaxes

This tax year there is a $7,500 refund (if you chose to take it) for first-time home buyers. There were a few stipulations that I was unsure about. In short, starting in 2010, each tax year we are to pay $500 back towards the "refund" every year for...15 years. Yeah, that's a long time (so the refund is basically an interest free loan from the gov't) . Also, if you sell the house, you are to pay back the entirety of the "loan" the next tax year. So, if we sold the house in 5 years, we'd have to pay like $6,000 (or whatever). Yowzer.

Well, we decided to take it...free money!

Steph posed a great question to me: Whatcha gonna do with all that cash?

To which I thought to myself (while singing Fergie): "Whatcha gonna do with all that cash, all that cash...in yo' stash?"

I obviously could spend this money very, very quickly...on clothing. What Not To Wear style! But...that wouldn't be financially smart of me now would it?

So, what I have done is compiled a list of things that I want to do with this money (honestly, I am not a list person, but when it comes to money...you gotta doooo eeeett!)

  • Replace carpeting in the bedrooms
  • Replace tile flooring with wood flooring
  • Replace the fake cabinetry throughout the house with some good stuff (including bathroom vanities)
  • Granite counter tops in the kitchen
  • Replace kitchen sink
  • Make our landscaping more appealing
  • Buy a new stove and dishwasher
  • Replace ugly-arse gold lighting fixtures
  • New closet doors & closet shelving
  • Annnndd I'd like to use a little to pay off a credit card :D
Umm yeah, I'm pretty sure after all of that our money will be long gone! Haha. We don't plan on doing all of that at once, of course :) We are more DIYer type people so we will also save a lot of money on labor. Plusss, when it comes to selling our house someday all of those things are definitely well worth the money (hmmm I think I watch too much HGTV!). I feel very fortunate to not only have purchased a house in this economy, but everything is cheaper right now in regards to home renovations.

What do you think of my list? Trying to be as smart as we can with the money so that we will actually make way more off of it :)

PS...I still owe you a post on our, now, purple bathroom...coming soon I promise!!!!!!!!

2008, You Were Good

I didn't realize how much my life has changed this year until I started looking at all of my pictures from the past 12 months and seeing how much my hairstyle has evolved! For reals.

Okay joking aside, so much has happened this year! We went from one car to two, I went from long hair to short, dropped a few pounds, moved from apartment living to home ownership, found out I'm going to be an aunt this next year (!), added a dog to our family, finally met Chris' family, among many other things!!!! It all went by so fast too; it seems to do that when you get older

So here's some pictures to take you through my years past. (I kind of stole this idea from a bunch of people, so thank you, internet dwellers, for your brilliant ideas!)

And on said trip, had an incident with the dog falling in the lake and not wanting to do much but act like dead weight.

Then I turned 23.

Then we visited my little cousins in Manhattan Beach.

August
We'd be on the home search for over a couple of months, this was the one that accepted our offer.

So, we started packing!

September
At the Lake again; Chris decided it was smart to grab a snake out of a stream!

Unstuffing our LoveSac :-/ Who does that? Um, apparently people with cats who peed on it.

On our moving day, we first painted the entire living area & office.

Then we moved our furniture in :)
